RUDY!!

this post has nothing to do with music. or anything related. it’s about one of the greatest movies of all time. RUDY!!
i remember the first time i ever saw rudy; fucking hated it. i was so pissed at my uncle for renting it and making me watch it that day at my grandma’s house. towards the end i think i was alright with it, but i was still pissed. fast forward to 2007. i had the hots for this girl in chicago named jen. while i was at her house one time i saw she had the dvd and i was all like, RUDY!! trying to get her to watch it with me, so youknow, i could put the moves on her fine ass. naturally, she didn’t really want anything to do with me and said she wouldn’t watch the movie with me. so i kept insisting [demanding] she watch the damn movie with me. eventually i realized she would never fall in love with me so i stole the movie from her house and watched it on my own time. this is when i realized how fucking amazing this movie is. how incredible the power of rudy really was. there’s so many aspects of the movie that make you fall in love. with the movie, with rudy, with anything. oh, did i mention that a [very] young vince vaughn and jon favreau [swingers, made, etc] are in it??
now, i have a lot of favorite movies, and i have to break them down to sub-genres -ie. classics, movies of my time, movies of all time etc- but rudy falls in the top three of movies i just fucking love. right alongside the temptations movie and [movie title]. so yeah. like i said, this post has nothing to do with music and probably should have been posted up on something along the lines of livejournal. but i don’t care. i want the world to know; I LOVE RUDY!!
ok ok, i guess i’ll upload a beat i made a while back that has a rudy sample in it. and yes, i made this song when i was madly in love with that girl. who wanted nothing to do with me. [until a year or two later when we ran in to each other at a bar. but she got fat and i didn't wanna hit it anymore]

johnson & jonsonnew album from blu. and mainframe. and apparently the gaslamp killer. although i have no idea what his role was. someone please fill me in. thanks.
album is sweet. good music, good lyrics, nice energy. even though i still find myself loving ‘under the heavens’ more and more, this album is pretty damn awesome. listen to a song. or two…

ok the other day i made a post about this dude from cali called dert. he made a beat tape with samples from bjork songs, pretty cool. today (without even looking for him) i came across another beat tape he did, but this time using pink floyd samples. and i have to say, i like this guy. his beats are tight, and that album cover is fucking awesome. so check this shit out…

fox n wolf: youth alcoholic

electronic, girls
for the most part i’m not so keen on all this ‘blog/electro/gritty/french-house’ kind of music. but every now and then i come across some that i like. fox n wolf is something that i like.
i came across a single of theirs in a record store a few years back and bought the record based off the cover art. it was the two of them wearing fox/wolf masks looking all creepy and shit. good enough for me. got home, put on the record and was like “DAAAMN” shit was tight. so here’s a song that wasn’t on that record i bought. enjoy.
groove armada: drop the tough (twelves remix)

i found this mp3 over at bigstereo earlier today and couldn’t help but notice how similar it sounds to fox n wolf. that girl’s voice is almost the same. kinda weird. then i got started thinking about fox n wolf and how much i used to like them. so right after this i’m making a post about them.
ok back to groove armada. i know nothing about them. i do know that they used to be on every down-tempo, chillout, ibiza, trip-hop compilation cd that was released from ‘97-’03. i think that’s where i first heard about them. when i was really in to trip-hop. i used to love that shit…maybe i’ll make a trip-hop post after that fox n wolf one…
anyway, i couldn’t find the original version of this song, just a couple remixes, but whatever. listen to this remix by the twelves and then listen to the fox n wolf song that’s about to get posted above. they kinda sound the same. kind of..

the motherfucking death set

music, wtvz
one of the few bands i actually enjoy listening to. i feel like i may have made a post about these guys before, but i don’t care. they’re good. also one of the few bands i will actually pay to see live. i couldn’t care less about going to shows these days, but when the death set comes around, i’m there. can’t even remember how many times i’ve seen them. so many shows in so many states. awesome every time. listen to this shit.
dert: talk strange (a beat tape inspired by bjork)

electronic, hip-hop, instrumental, mixtape, remix
i don’t know who the hell this dert guy is or what he’s all about, but he likes bjork and so do i. although i don’t really follow, or even listen to her anymore, i can’t help but love her. bjork was one of the first artists that showed me there are no rules when it comes to music. like. no rules. none.
so here’s a track off the tape. samples one of bjork’s more popular songs “it’s oh so quiet”
ladyhawke is old news.

but she’s kind of a babe. so that enough reason for me.
music is kinda generic and bland, youknow. every song sounds like something you’ve heard before, but not really in a bad way. just a boring one. i don’t care though. she’s worth a mention on this little site of ours…

dude is still at it. writing crazy raps about crazy shit that doesn’t make sense. but somehow i get it. i just get it…
i don’t know what his relationship with mf doom is. i don’t know exactly why they are friends, maybe they talk about weird lyrical patterns. so something… anyway. here’s a song or two from his new mixtape full moon kaboom

if you’re a dj/producer/whatever and you haven’t checked out ccMixter yet, you probably should jump on that. its a creative commons audio site full of royalty free samples from all sorts of musicians. they have contests and lots of cool shit for you to do. i got a bunch of random samples from there a while back and every now and then i throw something in to the mix and see if it works. conveniently the vocal track from Christopher Willits’ song Color Shifting fit my track pretty well and i kept it. i still haven’t listened to the original, but i’m pretty pleased with my remix. soooooo check it out!
