the wu-note project

graphic designer Logan Walters did a redesign of some classic wu-tang/associated artist albums, but with a blue note twist. the designs pay homage to classic blue note album covers from the 40s and up. i personally think these are really cool and feel like they would look great printed/framed/up on my walls…

Deastro & Our Brother Megazord

deasstro

I caught deastro on accident at the hamtramck blowout this year and was really surprised at the amount of awesome in his set because all the acts I saw before made my brain cry. dude was straight playing the drums to his computer with a mic hooked up, all he needed was some cymbals strapped to his knees and it would have been ON! He posted 3 eps on his blog so go get them!

Elzhi teaches you how to rap.

Saw Elzhi (of slum village) with black milk, Royce 5′9, Fat Ray, Phat Kat, Marvon, and even Guilty Simpson came up to spit a few last night at the Shelter. Elzhi is probably the most technical rapper to come out of Detroit, this video he shows you how he composes multi syllable raps by actually rapping. Elzhi also mentioned that him and Phat Kat are coming out with an album as well as him and Royce and all the songs he did with them sounded like its some shit to look forward to for sure.

Phat Kat w/ Elzhi – Cold Steel
Little Brother w/ Elzhi – Hiding Place

ill Uno – Detroit I love you
